I had my first tempo run with the Magic Racers yesterday, and I loved it! Now I'm tempted to do all my runs in these shoes.
As for a marathon, would you run with the Magic Racers? If not, what shoe whould you recommend?

Have you run any Long Runs in this shoe? I would at least run 2+ hours in the shoe and then see how you feel. I used to run marathons in flats, but now I prefer lightweight trainers i.e. Asics DS Trainers, Brooks Burn, etc.
done 3 marathons in them - great shoe
women's version
I wasn't the original poster, but I have the exact same question with the Magic Racer. Thanks for the suggestion.
Agreed on the speedstar call. Great marathon shoe!!
from my experience, the Magic Racer was great up to 1/2 marathon but did not give enough support for 26.2. The DS trainers are a little heavier but I think would be better for the marathon. Unless you really have no biomechanical problems I think a shoe with a little more support than the Magic Racer is better.
Thank you for the advice.
I'm running NY in November so I have time to run several long runs in them.
I love the feel of running in lightweight racers, but I'm wondering if after 20 miles or so there is a counter-effect with my legs and body being more sore (sorer?) because of the lack of cushioning...?
On the other hand no matter what, I suppose I will hurt after 20/22 miles.
I have had a lot of luck with New Balance 205. Neutral, cushioned sole with a basic upper and no plastic. I find it perfect for long races because it doesn't irritate my foot the way a lot of the recent racers do.
