How Many People on Here Can Beat Dean Karnazes in His 50 Marathon Challenge?

look, i'm no karno fan, but if you think there are a few hundred people on this board who can beat him in this ridiculous publicity stunt, you're either 1. insane, or 2. way too willing to believe everything you read on this board.

he may only have a 3:10 PR (i think it's faster than that, but whatever), but he'll do something close to that every day on this thing.

don't get me wrong, i think the whole thing is idiotic. but don't let that fool you into thinking anyone can do it.

He is attempting 50 in 50.

Most money will be on DNF, injured.

Good luck will not help him.

He's obviously proven he has the ablility to do this, but I don't think he'll get within 30 minutes of 3:10 most days. He's looking to finish this thing, not see how long he can hold a decent pace.

If you look at the website it says he is planning on running 4-5 hour marathons for the whole thing. I'm not hating, but that is completely different than close to 3:10 every day.

There's a guy named Sam Thompson from Mississippi who's actually finishing up a 50 in 50 this weekend. He's not quite the self-promoter Dean K is.

He's only 3 away from finishing 50 (actually 51). Go to his website...check out his times, blog, etc....more than amazing

I don't think there are many people that could even do all 50.

I could beat him in the first, but I know how I feel after a marathon and I probably wouldn't even be able to run the second.

You have gotta give the man credit for the accomplishment.

To put it another way, how many of you (us) could run faster than him for 7+ weeks of at least 183.4 miles per week?

When he came down to Miami for a book signing, it was one of the questions I asked him. A lot of you on this borad wish you could run that fast, including myself!!

The winner of the Sri Chinmoy 3100 this yr beat dean by almost 50 miles per day for just under 50 days - dean's only claim to fame is 50times better PR

You are out of your freaking mind if you think that there is even one person in the Letsrun.com universe that can do this! I don't care how fast he runs them, what is that 7 consecutive 187 mile weeks!!!!!

I'll be honest and state that I don't like the guy. So my opinion here is biased. He may have said he ran 2:30, I've heard his PR is 3:10 and he thinks he could run 2:30 -- there's a big difference between running something and thinking you can run it. Did he tell you where he ran it? Can you find the results on marathonguide.com or any other website? I did a google search and I found the last post on this thread:

I'd give a gonad if this were true. Don't know what a gonad is, but what the hell. The point is that he may not have been entirely truthful.

3:10 sounds like a true PR for him...at least

shows these results on the marathon for him.
