Congrats to Kip! Bekele looked a bit worried the last 400, with good reason.

Well it looks like the weather might have played into the hands of Lagat, what a finishing kick!
Unfortunately it looked liked it slowed the entire pack proportionately all the way down.
Did Lincoln try to run with the lead pack? How about Hall or Torres?
Why? What was the weather like?
Bekele tactics seem suspect. Why does he decide to make it a kickers race with guys like lagat and el g?
I don't know, but everybody kept talking about high winds, thunder, and lightening. I'm assuming with the reason London hot spell, this became a recipe for wicked humidity.
Pace was un-even. 59. something first lap. Slowed to 2.34 at 1km. Rotich struggled with the pace to about 6 laps. the 7th lap was 61.2 I think and they went through 3km in 7.53. Goucher and Alves were at the back of the group with Abdiraham (sp? sorry). Lincoln, Torres etc were off the pace at 3km.
Pace slowed at 1200m to go to 65's. Cram and Coe were saying with 800m to go they'd be really suprised to see a sub 13.00. Bekele kicked at 450 to go and immediately started lookign behin. Choge gave chase with Kipchogie (sp? sorry, writing quickly) and then Lagat sitting smoothly behind.
200m to go Choge dropped back, Lagat looked like he was finishing a 1500m, moved up nicely onto Bekele's shoulder and then kicked on the straight. Bekele moved out to lane three but Lagat was flying!
Fair f***ing play!
LAGAT 51,2 LAST LAP....amazing!
If Bekele wants to practice his kick it is best for him to make it a kickers race in a year like this so he is more well rounded for championship racing.

maybe, but he hasnt been quite himself for awhile. no longer the unbeatable bekele (losing to el g is one thing, but this? he can make the 10k a kickers race but nothing lower or he gets toasted). of course, hes still the best dont get me wrong.
there were 5 kenyan (including lagat) in the race, and i bet they worked together and hammer bekele! it will be interesting at championship races because it will be 3 ETH vs 4 kenyan + (2 more from qatar) so the Eth dominant will be diminished!
Bekele is too busy partying to adequately prepare, he will get hammered serveral more times this year.
What happened to Ryan Hall? Looks like he fell off the wagon there.
the weather was fine. did you watch the webcast?
I suspect that Jos Hermans has his stable off "beer, whiskey, and thyroid medecine" right now. Or Lagat had a half rack last night.
how about the 1500 the other day that he won? im sure that gave him a little confidence..
Lagat - 12:59 (not 12:58). Thank God!
MOTTRAM??? Surprising. Is he sick?
'k off
anything imported pre 1500 isn't native anyway.
Bekele has to learn he cannot outkick 1500 runners. First El G in the Olympics and now Legat. I'll bet Bekele is too much of a rock head to learn and he lose again for the same reason
