4x4 because u get to see distance runners and sprinters run in the same race(well in hs usually).
have any of u guys ever made a distance 4x4 team and raced agaisnt ur A team and beat them in a dual meet?
no, our 4x4 team doesn't suck
Yeah I'm a 800m fan as well. That's always my favorite to watch.
800 or mile. always exciting, and inspiring too, to watch other people in so much pain.
800
The womens sprints and hurdles because they are the only people that thank god more than us.
steeple chase! woo-hoo!
Steeple by far... all i have to say is face plants in the water pit... instant classics
the 4x4 and 800 is what track is all about.
A crappy steeple race is always fun to watch. However, it's not as much fun to see folks that know what they are doing run it. The most exciting event in my opinion is the 4x400m followed by the 800m. Nothing beats a 4x400 when finishing a meet. Even a slow race is still fun if it's competitive.
I like peoples' opinions so far, 800 is awesome, let's not forget the 4x800. The 4x400 is usually a hoot, and an exciting mile is way up there. 800 is tough to beat, though.
mile
I try to predict the winners early based on stride and posture.
I'd say the 800 and 1500. Both are painful to watch, much less run!!!
Jason
Whichever one has the most well-matched field. Blowouts are always boring. That said, relays in general and the 4x400 in particular are usually the best for this.
Women's pole vault. The athletes are the most aesthetically pleasing and it's been fun watching the event evolve since its inception.
Another vote for the 4x400.
The 4x4 and the Mile. I think the mile is the distance that most non-runners can relate to in the US, since most of us had to run the mile in PE class back in high school. When non-runners watch other events they probably have no idea how fast it really is, relatively speaking. But when someone who ran the PE class mile in 6:35 sees someone run a sub 4, they're like "Whaaaatt?".
100m-1500m
The 3K and above simply don't play well to the great unwashed who don't post here.
I think most viewers watch the meet, then go down to the local high school track and try to run even one lap at the pace these BMW engines on VW frames can run.
