a) silvers and bronzes and 5th places are NOT "huge WINS"......right?
b) Yeah, he is great, but he is NOT underrated. He's gotten his due. But he has actually not done as great as many expected after some of his early big times. Lately he has been a little disappointing frankly (one guy on here last year was screaming how Sihine would be beating Bekele's records soon. I told him it wasn't going to happen, and he hasn't come close). -
Who the hell is this dude? When did this happen? 2nd in the Olympic 10k? HELL YEAH HE IS UNDERRATED. The first person to reply has no clue what they are talking about.
-
didn't sihine beat bekele a month ago or so in the 5k?
-
silishi never beat Kenenisa in the int'l level
-
I agree. If he was from any other country besides Ethiopia or Kenya(even there he might be another big rival for mighty Ethiopians) he would be hailed as one of the current greats. Now hes just some faceless guy behind Bekele. Think about it- his times/and esp medals makes Mottram look junior varsity and we never stop hearing about how great Mottram is.
-
I agree he is well under-rated! The reason hes never beaten bekele is because he paces?or "takes out the pace" for bekele at every championship.
-
selishi sihine is tirunesh dibaba's boyfreind if they have kids someday, maybe one of their kids will be the nest great ethiopian, maybe i should have put this statement on the next great ethiopian thread, oh well.
-
i know i mispelled next, i hope all the english teachers out there dont turn this thread into my lack of spelling ability (haha).
-
He trains so hard that he is injured half the time. He wants to move to the marathon.. but ppl are asking him to wait and see.
We haven't seen what seleshi can do. Sure, he cannot outkick kenenisa at the end of a 10,000. But he has beat kipchoge and Mottram with his kick.
we have to see what he can do next year.
my guess is that he will run 12:40 and 26:20 59:00 and 2:05 before his career ends.

is bekele taking the glory away from sihine just like how el g took the glory away from lagat?
i wouldnt say "take away," but u know what i mean.
if it wasnt for el g, lagat could have been king of the mile.
does it go the same for bekele and sihine? -
This thread deserves a bump.
We can add another WC silver to Sihine's collection after the 10000....and perhaps he'll medal again in the 5000.
If Bekele did not exist, we would be seeing comparisons of Sihine to Geb. -
Seleshi was really flying down the back.. very impressive sprint. He had to shut it down. If he had waited a little.. he could have pressed kenenisa to 50 from the line.
-
Not the way I saw it. Kenenisa was going by, Sihine looked to his right, saw it was Kenenisa, looked to the left to see behind him, saw the gap in back of him, and gave up. I think Sihine knows he won't outkick Kenenisa so he tried to break him early.
-
When Kenenisa went by him it was hello silver. What raced were you watching?
-
I thought Sihine would win.
Think old Jos was happy about the whole thing.

If it wasn't for thousands and thousands of people, I could have been king of the mile. -
That was at least a 20m gap that KB opened up on Sihine in the last 200m.
