do you wear orthotics or insert heal lifts, if so you could have too much pressure building up on the top of the foot. Its actually quite hard to get a stress fracture on the top of your Cuneiform bones, and if you did have a stress fracture it would hurt just walking around. six weeks is a fair amount of time off for a stress fracture and if you did have one it probably would not have hurt so soon although it still may have in some people.
I hate to say this, but simply unlacing your shoes a bit and releaving that pressure may have reduced the pain.
If this is not the case go to a doctor because you're screwed.
