At the bottom of the article, it states that. Thats insane!

the brother runs 12:36, you can't do that by doing tempo or distance runs all the time
“I can’t tell you that,” he said. “That’s a secret.”
He's referring to his 4* EPO injection with 800 meter jog recovery
I understand that the world recorder holder obviously puts in an insane amount of work, but I am still impressed by four speed workouts a week, I am assuming (and so are you) that tempos are not included in this. I just wished he commented on what type. HaHa
has it been previously published that he is moving down in distance? if i remember right he is leaving xcountry after this year. that might make sense, run indoors instead.
Hmmmm...it doesn't give specifics.
I run 4 hard workouts a week too...long run, 3 steady hard runs.
Would this be "4 track workouts a week":
Sunday: Long run, 6x200
Monday: 6xmile
Wednesday: easy
Thursday: easy, 6x200
Friday: 6xmile
Saturday: easy
I think when someone says they do "4 track workouts a week" we erroneously assume they are 4 ball busting workouts.
Alan
He also said he is not going to run indoors any more.
track sessions don't necessarily mean speed workouts. He probably does a lot of longer Vo2 max work, and maybe even some threshold training on the trac.
ahhh. give it up. the african do not train like frank shorter, that's why they can run 26s instead of 27s. It's probably something like 2x 3k/5kpace. 1x mile/800 pace. and 1x pure speed.

Um, Bob Schul would run 13 speed workouts a week often. 4 ain't much.
