i've always run in stablity shoes, both normal 11.5-12 oz monsters and lightweight trainers, 10-11 oz, mainly because i have flat feet and always figured that they would help me. when i first started running they did, but now that i'm hoping to eventually switch to flats, i'm trying to become more of a mid-foot striker. and it's making me a more efficent runner. however the one drawback is that my calves are becoming more sore, enough to the point where i need 24 hours to recover. i was thinking about switching to a neutral training shoe(something like the speedstar) since with less stability i will be able to land more normal. but my main concern is with my flat feet, do i need stability? what are people's, specifically, anyone with flat feet, experiences with going to neutral-type shoes. does the lack of stablity hurt, or only if you are a heel striker?
