A teammate of mine was one of the first guys to run under 4:00 in our state, in fact he ran 3:57 something! Why can't anyone find it online?

Not every thing that has ever been written down is accessible via the internet. Here, there are some gaps in human history, including this thing you bring up that very few people care about. I’m guessing it’s the lack of importance rather than intentional erasure. You can possibly find it and scan it.

I honestly wonder if these non-online sources are how some people who don't let AI tell them what the "conventional wisdom" on everything is will learn real history at some point in the future, at least in some societies.
If people are dumb enough to allow themselves to someday get computer implants into their brains in order to "be super smart," I can imagine a society where those with the implants think they are super smart/educated and that those without the implants are stupid/uneducated and reject the "conventional wisdom" that "everyone knows." One obvious problem is that the info. on the chip isn't necessarily right, but people would be able to lazily gain a lot of information.
Inspiration for this episode of The Twilight Zone came from hearing/reading people regurgitate garbage they got online.

You had a HS teammate that ran 3:57? The odds against that happening are at least 100K to one. That time would put him in the top five all-time. I suppose you don’t remember his name?
