I have recently come off a successful track season - running a big PB in my main event the 1500m - and I am wondering how I can prepare for the upcoming cross country season. The last couple years, I have struggled to perform on the cross country course up to my performances in track. For context, I run at the collegiate level and have been running ever since I was in elementary school. I have run relatively fast over 1500m - 3:45 PB and have run cross country seriously since middle school. I struggle to run anything under 24:50 for 8km XC and get completely destroyed by people on the XC course who are non-factors in track. I am wondering what could be amiss! I have been training in a threshold focused system since high school with modest mileage sitting around the 100km / week mark. Additionally, I struggle running on the grass, as it feels clunky compared to the grass and as a tall 187cm runner, hills perhaps don't favor me neither, though I like running them.
