Mentioned this a few days after the infamous Australian trials 1500m final, but this has now been "unofficially" designated as the selection race for the Glasgow CWG between the 4 major protagonists at the Australian champs - Hollingsworth, Hull, Caldwell and Billings.
First 3 across the line get the spots .
I guess under the circumstances it's the fairest way to do it - but it's a massive advantage for Hull who now gets to run a 1500m with WL that will be paced and obviously her PR is wwwaaayyy ahead of Hollingsworth and the women she took the record off, Linden Hall.
Who knows what would have happened in that Aussie final if she hadn't gone down - a good chance at least one of Billings/Caldwell would have rolled her and without the melee - maybe both?
Either way keep your eyes on the race within the race in this one.

If you're implying that the Australian federation is designating the Shanghai 1500m as a secondary Commonwealth Games trials race after Hull's fall in the Australian championship, which also affected Caldwell and Billings, I tend to agree with you. Reminiscent of how the British federation used the 1980 Oslo mile as a runoff for the third Olympic 1500m slot behind Ovett and Coe, after Cram fell in the official British trial race earlier (and 1500 trials winner Moorcroft decided to go for the 5000m in the Olympics). Cram came in ahead of Graham Williamson in the Oslo mile to grab the third Olympic slot.
You have 15 sub four women in one field and a fistful of sub 3:57 women. You almost never see fields like this so early in the season. Usually the Chinese diamond leagues are B class Kenyans and Ethiopians filling the fields.
