The boy runs a 19.67 200M and so many people hate on him. And before the race there were some on-line that said the US HSers would smoke him. What's up with the hate? Let it go.
I think people are just being suspicious of the very fast time. He barely beat the second place guy, and that second place guy had a 20.41 PR going into the race, and now he's a 19.88 guy medal contender?? If Gout would have dominated the race it would be more convincing that he's on a new level, but he didn't dominate the race, against a field of guys that aren't exactly top in the world (until that race?)... I need to see another race before I'm a believer. Not many people (none?) at that level take off 0.3-0.5 seconds in the 200m in one race.

Yes. I expect to see more sub 20s from Gout this summer, he's definitely capable of that, but I think 19.67 will remain his fastest this year.
You're confused. There was no shade from Gault. He was simply questioning how the majority of runners in that race ran massive PBs. It wasn't anything personal against Gout Gout.

Without a tailwind, Gout would have been at 19.77. He's previously (a year ago, aged 17) run 19.84 with a barely illegal headwind (2.2) and 20.10 with a big headwind (1.9). Converting these times to today's wind, he's 0.1-0.2 better. It's barely a leap for a phenom going from 17 y.o. to 18 y.o.
I'm no expert here, but isn't gout a painful condition that interferes with running performance? This guy's name is "Gout Gout" which is at least twice as bad...

Im hoping for WR so we can start with the "gout goat" "goat gout" "goat goat"....
Gault should explain, but I did not see anything malicious in questioning super fast times for the field. It was a remarkable race for a comparatively low key meet. Timing errors do happen.
However, going by that logic, he should question the London Olympics 800m final (the greatest race I have ever seen) as well.

Ya I wouldn't be surprised with more sub 20's... But there's a big difference between 19.9 or 19.8 and 19.67. Again, the second guy ran unbelievably fast too, which adds to the oddity of the results. His previous best was 20.4 and now he's a 19.8 guy? And Gaut was a 20.0 and now he's a 19.6 guy... Both massive jumps in the same race. Maybe just a perfect storm with a wind gust at the right time from the right angle to be wind legal. If he can just run a 19.7 somewhere else wind legal this year then I'll say ya he's just legit now and a real medal contender. But if he goes back to running 20.00 and the other guy goes back to running 20.3 or 20.4 then it looks like this is just a weird race

No. That isn’t all he was doing. Stop White-Knighting.

JG, care to chime in?
Considering what has now been confirmed about Kenya, and everyone knows about Amos, all three medalists likely doped to their eyeballs, EPO, GW1516, etc.

Because he's not american. The claws come out based on misplaced nationalism. The same can be said about the high school chest thumping. "Oh come to Texas, you'll get smoked." "Oh that time wouldn't even place in Florida." However, once an american kid is built up, they love to tear them down. Hopefully, being on the other side of the continent keeps the kid from the haters. People are acting like he broke sacred senior WR.
