I like Claudia but I don't agree with this at all. She wore green and ran green. It was a proper disqualification. This video clip from an Instagram post shows that she had no room on the inside and make an abrupt shift of foot that caused Jessica to go down:
Ok, my head is a bit banged up, but how is that not a DQ? I was running completely legally, in the lead when first Claudia tried to barge past me on the inside, then when she knew there was legally not enough space she recklessly crossed behind me and took my legs out.
I can agree it was accidental, but also reckless.
How can a runner take another one out in a reckless fashion and not be DQ D. What rules are being quoted?
Look at vid below at 4:29. Hull was in the outer half of the lane leaving room at the rail, and Hollingsworth moved up into that open space almost level with Hull. Then Hull squeezed in towards the rail cutting off Hollingsworth.

The clip above is deceptive. It starts after Hollingsworth had already moved into the space at the rail left by Hull, as Hull starts to move left and Hollingsworth is slowing down to avoid getting pushed into the infield.
DQ all day long. Hocker got DQ and didn’t take down anyone. She tripped the leader with 50m to go. Aussies athletics need to make it right and DQ this young lady. She’s very talented no doubt, but the rules must prevail.
The crazy move from Hollingsworth was not going wide at 150m to go, plenty of space with Caldwell not close enough to box her. This is a standard move even if the leader begins to veer.
However I will somewhat defend her from 100m to go. It’s a DQ to me, but I really think she did try to avoid Hull and not jostle through the inside.

I don’t fully agree with this. Hull did drift out a bit, but there was never enough room there for Hollingsworth to get through, and the contact didn’t happen until Hollingsworth realized this and attempted to swing to the outside to go around. Certainly not intentional or particularly egregious but it’s definitely DQ-worthy given the circumstances.
Part of me wonders if this reinstatement has something to do with just making the Commonwealth selection process easier for them, but I won’t pretend to have a clue how AA operates.
It’s not a DQ. I’m fact Hull performed the illegal move by squeezing a runner on the rail. If Hull hadn’t fallen, she’d have been DQ for impeding a competitor.
Once you give up the rail, if someone moves into that space, it’s their space.
If she knew Hollingsworth was there and squeezed to impede —> that’s a DQ
If she didn’t know that Hollingsworth was there and squeezed unknowingly—> that’s her fault for being unaware…and that’s a DQ.
Hull made the bad move. Hollingsworth reacted. Hence, Hollingsworth is your champion.
I think the bigger story here is that Hull is no longer in dominant form, and the rest of the Aussies (and the world) have caught up to her. This trip/fall would have never happened if her form wasn’t vulnerable.
It took less than 24 hours but Claudia is now the Australian 1500m champion after being DQ'd last night.
I wonder if the officials had access to head on footage. In horse-racing, there is always a head-on camera, and things can look totally different head-on.
Wow I'm surprised at how many people support the DQ of Hollingsworth.
From my view, Hull's rail pinch most likely would have resulted in a collision/possible fall, Hollingsworth tried to avoid it, and tripped her.
Technically from the rule book, you cannot impede a runner (which Hull did). She barely had a half stride length lead before trying to shut her down on the rail.
Anyways, things happen. I wouldn't say this is a black and white issue.
Yeah I don't think this is an "obvious DQ" or a DQ at all. Two runners weaving a bit, get tangled up. Incidental contact gone bad, but not a DQ in the slightest.
