Pinto was 3 seconds away from his National record. He ran 13:13
Nordas seems to have settled back into being a European-level guy. He did have some big illnesses in the winter, so maybe he can get back to 2023 levels. Running this far behind the two French guys in a drag race 5K means his fitness isn’t close yet, though.
I thought Battocletti would get a new ER and go below 30 min. Van Lent, McColgan and Keith are good runners, but Battocletti has been clearly faster. I expected something around 29:45.

Her best distance is the 5,000 it looks like and her road performances thus far have trailed her track performances. Still, I agree she should be running 29:45. She is on a whole different talent level than the athletes hovering around 30 minutes in the road 10K.
Expected more from Nordås. Converted to a track event, 13:10 is B-heat level. The typical A-heat has a few known names and 5-8 East-Africans you've never even heard of yet they all finish sub 13.
In championships it's always the same old story. The primary event of 1500m goes awry due to bad positioning and tactics, followed by the usual disappointed interview and a few days of depression. Then he appears in the call room for the 5000m qualifier and barely edges a spot for the final, in which he's never a factor because "he's tired".
After medaling in Budapest you'd hope the guy got the taste for blood and went in for the kill every time, but there's an unmistakable timidness about him.

I hope he puts this post to shame.
Has he ever been anything but B-heat level in 5000?

Surprisingly no, despite a very high level of mileage and threshold training. It does somewhat complicate things if he’s stagnated in the 1500 while the event is only getting better. Interested to see where he focuses outdoors.
So he breaks the 5km Norwegian record by 3 seconds and runs a 16 second PB in the first week of April and the comments are that he is disappointing. Tough crowd. I doubt that he was peaking for this road race.
What about: It looks like he improved his general fitness over the winter months. Can’t wait to see what he does over the summer.

I’m curious how awkward it is with Pinto, Lumb, and Nordas prancing around Sandnes while Henrik and Jakob pass them by on the way to the gym. I feel it’s a bit inconsiderate, honestly.

Tough crowd or a realistic one? This is a lightning-fast road race, and I believe Jimmy Gressier ran the 12:51 (his all conditions PB) with a 2:26 last K. I doubt he was "peaking" for the race either, but you do realize Nordas was paced at Norwegian Championships in a bid to make the World Indoors 3,000 it seems. So this might very well have a been a fallback plan and the peak of this buildup.
Of course, Nordas improved his fitness over the winter, but he is behind last year (13:04.85 BU 5K, 7:39.0 3K) and 2024 (won a World Indoor Tour gold 3K before struggling tactically at World Indoors). Neither of those indoor season were blowouts for a bronze medalist at 1500 who closed a 3:29 race in 52.9.
Is the requirement to just pump the tires of every runner, or objectively look at Nordas who has fallen from his 2023 level as a contender for DL wins, European gold, and World medals to a fringe finalist and top 5 guy in DL meets/European competition?

You are free to look at the world using your own lens.

Pinto friend here, according to him, he never see any of them, he cross them more in Sierra Nevada than Norway.
why you think it’s inconsiderate? What did Pinto, Lumb or Narve did to Jakob/Henrik? They just want to be better athletes after all
