Cooper Teare broke the Arcadia invitational 3200m record in high school, the ncaa mile record in college, has broken 13 and won US titles in the 1500m and 10k cross country
YET, the other Cooper halfway through his junior year in high school has had the more impressive career by far.
Teare would be a championship contender and have the American Record for Steeplechase if he could put aside his love of finishing mid pack in 1500/5000 finals.

Yup. Cooper T was on an absolute tear his senior year in track. Made a number of sub-4 attempts and ran an excellent race at Arcadia. Stud in college too and fairly good as a pro, we're just in a very talent rich generation of American middle distance
But ya Cooper L was a top ten sophomore all time in his other events 46.30 / 4:06.33... and he never lost to another HSer in the 800m. Easy pick.
What? Not a debate on any level. But to go in thouroughly...
Cooper Teare was great prep runner and had some top performances in hs relative to other US prep. But I dont think many would put him even top 10 all time us hs (Ryun, Webb, Lukas, others who went sub 4, sub 8:40). No elite 5k or 10k in hs right?
Ncaa: bright spots with mile record at one point but only 1 5k title? And dmr title too i think. No top 5 xc. Hard to make the case as top 10 ncaa, even if narrowing to his best event. Many others have either ran faster, been more dominant or have greater range.
Pro: has had a few more bright spots domestically with one or two us titles, or at least some teams? His xc title is cool but not really that contested compared to historical fields. No global success to note. I can think of 30 US pros offhand with better times, hardware, more teams, etc.
Cooper L on the other hand is a hs junior who has a HS record by a huge margin. Has to be in the top 3 hs records relative to their all time rank, right?
His times would also be very elite if he was in the NCAA today, at the very top if not #1, at least indoors? Have to fact check that but its close.
Globally, he has a freaking title now. Yeah its indoors, field blah blah but cmon, a global gold! Has teare made an indoor team?

You really can’t compare almost breaking four as a senior to 1:42 as a sophomore
Teare doesn’t get enough credit on this forum, but Lutkenhaus established himself as one of the best 800m runners to ever do it at the age of 16. His 800m PB wins world titles throughout most of track and field history, and he already has a world indoor title in his first year running pro.
Lutkenhaus is in a league where he should be being compared to athletes like Ingebrigtsen, Brazier, Hodgkinson, Hocker, Hoey, etc. people who always have a shot at medaling on the world stage, and there’s constant speculation about their potential to break world records.
Teare’s a phenomenal athlete, but i’ve never thought he might end up being the best to ever do it, nor have I seen anyone else make such speculations.
IMO, Teare’s best performance was his 3:50 indoor mile, which was essentially a time trial. Lutkenhaus’s 1:42, ran after rounds in a tactical race, at the age of 16, is realistically worth a ~ 3:45-3:46 mile.
Why are people responding to this with serious answers? The OP is obviously trolling
Actually we really have no idea who has more talent or who has the brighter future. It is an absurd question because nobody can answer it. Anyone who thinks they can is a fool. Talent for what? If it is athletics, Lutken seems more talented, but they are both gifted. As far as who has a brighter future, nobody can know. If you disagree you are by definition a moron.
