That picture of him is crazy. He looks like a child (which makes sense given his age), yet he has a world championship gold medal around his neck. Still can’t make sense of this guy. Hyped for the WR in Stockholm though, 1:39 here we come!
Seriously though, we are so lucky to witness this. I don’t know what Cooper’s career will look like, but he’s got potentially 15 years at the top of the world. I’m sure he’ll face injuries and setbacks and have bad years, but he really has such an incredible support system around him that I’m not worried. Everything I’ve heard from his coach and about his family makes me feel like I’m in a dream. You can’t make up a better scenario.
Now that I’m trying, I can’t even take a good stab at a prediction. Dude ran 1:44 indoors for a gold medal. If anyone else did that I’d expect a 1:41 outdoors, but this guy is 17, so that feels like heaping on unrealistic expectations on a child. But he’s already run 1:42 and has a gold medal. Idk bro I can see anywhere from 1:39-1:44 as completely reasonable based on his indoor season.
