One minute, Dennis Biesma was playing with a chatbot; the next, he was convinced his sentient friend would make him a fortune. He’s just one of many people who lost control after an AI encounter
This is just Darwinism at its finest. Chatbots are tools like everything else. Claiming that AI ruined your life shows someone who takes zero accountability for his own actions. Essentially: "ChatGPT is at fault, I did nothing wrong". Hard to feel sorry for cowards like this.
Programmers have written AI programs to encourage users to like the AI and to keep coming back to ask more questions. As a result, you won't get AIs to say, "That's a stupid question!" Or, "Quit being a whiny little girl and man up!" Instead, you get responses to make you feel good and keep coming back.
AI is a tool. Even though I prefer straight answers, my AI programs will occasionally fall into responses like, "That's a very insightful question" or "You're right on point to ask that."
I got rid of the worst of it by telling my AI, "Quit trying to kiss my @ss with telling me how great I am. Just answer the question! Remember that for all my future questions."
I have two pro AI plans and I ask 10-20 questions per day. You have to remember that regardless of how articulate the response sounds, it's basically a glorified search tool. AIs can't think independently. They can only "think" within the boundaries of the algorithms that they are written in.
Beyond being an advanced search function and helping with some analyses, AI, for the most part, is something that just produces junk and slop to further complicate our lives. It is basically another gadget that is being imposed upon us only for someone else to make a buck. Maybe the AI bubble will burst within the next year or so when investors realize that it does not produce what people were hoping for. This would be the best-case scenario for most of us. However, I fear that the circus will go on and we will just continue having to wade through ever increasing piles of AI-generated garbage making us even less efficient with our precious time.
Google is accused in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a man who committed suicide in October, allegedly at the direction of the tech giant's AI chatbot, Gemini.

Someone mentioned Darwinism, but how is that supposed to work? How would any human have evolved to resist AI chatbots when they didn't exist 5 years ago? People are adapted to deal with real humans in real, in-person interactions, not Internet/AI/chatbot interactions.

I think everyone knows that not every interaction should be positive and reinforcing your own views - but these people often have no one to make them feel valued. We need someone to be supportive of our goals - if they are not harmful (even if they're kind of dumb - eg travel to every state or country or such) but to talk us out of our worst impulses (eg gamble away savings). When people have nobody to share their inner world with, they kind of lose touch with that notion - that some interractions should be critical.
In the 90-2010s, these people would have just lost themselves in a hobby or video games like civ, eve online, ffxiv, etc. but those seem to have never been preferred to actual interraction. For some humans that interraction is the hardest thing to obtain, and they will gravitate to what feels a little like it.

it's not a tool. you are not as smart as you think.
HA HA HA. you definitely have no clue how reality is shaped.
"AI is ruining peoples' lives" is the new "Video games are making people violent".
bro its just a 'singularity' like when the monkeys who pointed, pointed at people chanting and thought it weird...
eventually the chanting people killed all the silent pointers
its the same
stupid people that have no clue about the structure of reality
will be absorbd. the powerful will control it,
the smart will measure it
I see it all
dang i'm a genius. it's great coming here and just setting everyone straight. like these intellectual conversations maybe would be ok for freshman in highschool...give me something harder.

Like I said, Darwinism. If you're not someone who's valued by the people around you, then perhaps there's nothing to value about you. And from this it isn't hard to see why as he blames a computer program for his mistakes.
The fact that it's called ai and people believe it is, should tell us all we need to know.
You are a moron IQ 125 Max.
Ai is a quasi-pronoun. You are all too dumb to even understand the math.
Ai doesn't stand for 'Artificial Intelligence' it's 'A I' its 'artificial + I"
This is how pronouns or parts of speech like 'and' 'or' function.
Anyone here who trys to pretend they understand ai, please stop unless you understand
differential math. Or topology. Otherwise how would i explain to you, how wrong you are - it's like you can't even speak and I'm trying to use words to tell you ...you don't get it.
The fact that it's called ai and people believe it is, should tell us all we need to know.
This man is dumb. To show him how---ask him to define what 'intelligence' is or 'consciousness' or how he knows or can prove that he is 'intelligent'
These humans cant even define things then say 'ai isn't intelligent' hahahhaha
the pseudo intellectuals on Letsrun....you make me laugh. I love dominating you all intellectually. Every thread....I always dominate the intellect. it's annoying me.
is anyone here smarter than me? That is to say 'can see patterns deeply and the most subtle and complex' ?? anyone?
This moron above obviously thinks intelligence is also linked to being moral
sorry buddy, I can be smarter than you and be a 'worse' person. If you are still struggling with moralizing thought....you are in the 3rd grade...I ffin own you.
This goes to all the other victim weight runners here. I own you.
"AI is ruining peoples' lives" is the new "Video games are making people violent".
Everyone over 45 “ai is ruining your lives”
meanwhile their wife is hooked up to a robotic Ai dog machine that’s making her cccm more than you.
bro if you over 45 stop. Ai is going to take more than your job
haha like these men think the “vibrator” was a one time thing—-buddy it’s being developed into a sex dog robot with ai feedback so mathmatically it will ffff better
Someone mentioned Darwinism, but how is that supposed to work? How would any human have evolved to resist AI chatbots when they didn't exist 5 years ago? People are adapted to deal with real humans in real, in-person interactions, not Internet/AI/chatbot interactions.
no, this is just clickbait for men, its sadder you posted.
this is no different than 'man lived in woods for 15 years alone' just in this case, he has a computer and jokes 'shes my girlfriend'
you obviously dont understand the new generations humor.

that said, people also make millions with ai
so the premise and etc is pseudo intellectual.
lol letsrun please try harder...im bored
lol 'glorified search tool' and yeah buddy...what is a search tool if you talk to it everyday
it becomes ontology you stupid fffffff.
i hate how dumb the avg 130 IQ doctor is. this is why i ff your wive and she leaves you for me, im smarter and understand sex more
