Impressive. He was solo from the ~900m mark when the pacemaker dropped Closed in 53.xx Last year he ran 3'34.98 at the same meet. This summer will be awesome
Unfortunate a good chunk of the main contenders (Robert Farken, Jack Antsey, Jude Thomas) got knocked out in the fall within the first lap. Some probably will form the places between the 7 seconds of Cam Myers to Adam Spencer.
That being said, 3:30 effectively solo from the front is some Jakob kinda magic, especially in March (even though Aussies may peak earlier for their Nationals)

Brother 3:30 closing in 53? In March? What did the guys close in at USAs the last couple years? I know he’s been great, but it looks like he’s reached gold medal contender status already. The 1500 is so deep he could run a good race and get 6th, so I’m not expecting a medal, but it’s so fun to have a younger generation already making it fun for the Jakobs and Hockers who have experience.
The races between Myers and Ruthe for the next decade are going to be legendary. Add in Laros and (I hope at least a few times) Lutkenhaus, and there is so much to look forward to.

It's very comparable, slightly less impressive splits, but done solo in march. I'd say they're equal performances.
I'm in Melbourne but not at the meet. Myers was even impressive given that the conditions were far from perfect. It was cold, wet and moderately windy.
There better be some world record attempts this summer, cause I expect a couple guys to be in 3:25 shape.
That's a lofty expectation. The world record of 3:26.00 has stood for over a quarter-century. Only four men in history have run 3:26, and it's only been done once in the last decade. A couple guys running 3:25 this summer would be shocking.

I’ve been sleeping a bit on Mister Myers thinking that his peers (Laros, Reynold) had way better wheels and would embarrass him in championships. Inserting foot in mouth this year

Yeah I always thought Myers was really talented but a bit of a tweener, one of those guys who’s strong enough to be there but not fast enough to close and WIN. That’s not an insult there’s only a handful of guys who I think have the goods to win a global title. But soloing a 3:30 closing in a 53 is next level!

Well there's a difference between being in 3:25 shape and actually running it. I believe Hocker was in 3:26.5 shape at the time he won the Olympics, but he never actually ran that time. It's the time I'd expect he'd run in a perfectly paced race at peak shape.
I believe Hocker with two extra years of uninjured training should be able to improve by half a second over his Olympic shape, and hope that one other person also gets there with all the talent there is right now.
Myers is already in 3:28 shape in March, so you never know.
