Who are they?
Who are they?
Cade Flatt essentially quit upon arrival.
Living in a world where middle-aged men don't publicly discuss their weight on a running forum.
Most of the people on this forum quit running. So they're probably here amongst us, talking about teenage high school girls and trolling greg, living their best lives
I will go with perhaps the most famous one: Jeff Nelson of Burbank HS. I believe he left Oregon because the Coach overtrained him and he was injured. From there, I believe he ran at a JUCO but not sure.
Maybe also Melody Fairchild. I think her story was a bit more tragic as she left college because she lost her Mom. So, I am not sure she would qualify in the same way as someone who just left the sport because of overtraining or not liking the School they chose.

Melody Fairchild... now that is a blast from the past.
My question to you is what do you think they are doing? They became regular normal people living regular normal lives. Just like every HS football star doesn't go to the NFL, the same is true for runners. Not every track star goes on to run at the national championships or Olympic trials.
I believe Melody Fairchild is still involved with the sport at the grass roots level.
Michael “The Big” Slagowski. Crazy to crash out as a sub 4 HS guy.
Steve Magness. He went on to become the second highest paid Steve Magness in the Texas University system.
Probably right where they would be no matter what. high level running is a phase for most.
even the pros have to move on and get real jobs. Same as any other athlete. What do water polo players do after college? They love the rest of their life
Matthew Maton became a logger
Soren Knudson went to world Jr's then was homeless and done running shortly afterwards. All the best to him going forward.
Fairchild won the NCAA 3000 in 1996 as a senior at Oregon.

He ran at Glendale JC. He won the state JC XC championships and ran a 14:00 the next spring. I believe he became injured again after that 5000m, and never ran seriously again.
Ryan Deak -- lasted 2 years at CU Boulder.
Phillip Rocha -- lasted 1 year at CU Boulder.
Michael Slagowski (sub-4 HS) -- lasted 1 semester at Penn State (injury)
Matthew Maton (sub-4 HS) -- latest 2 years at Oregon (injury)
Most tried to compete on in other colleges but ultimately quit early.

Weird how almost all of these examples are athletes who went to Oregon. What's going on in Eugene???
Jantzen Oshier
Aaron Sahlman hasn’t raced since early indoor season
