"Change is never easy, but it can open the door to new energy and growth✨ I’m incredibly grateful for my time with Bowerman (and the Eugene hub) and for all the amazing teammates & people it brought into my life. Those years shaped me in so many ways, and needless to say, I’ll always appreciate the countless memories. It was time for a change and I’ve loved rediscovering the joy of the sport and embracing a fresh environment. Moving back to Portland simply felt right. Being around close friends, familiar faces, and great trails has meant a lot. 🥰 The past couple months have been so much fun getting to run with old friends and teammates again. Taking on some new training & having Kellen be a big part of it has been really special for both of us. Heading into this year, I’m also excited to announce that I’ve started working with @chris.miltenberg I’ve been loving the runs and workouts I’ve gotten to do so far — and linking up with Emily, especially as she’s currently 18 weeks pregnant! I’m looking forward to seeing this training be put to work! Feeling grateful, refreshed, and excited for what’s ahead. Next up -> Shamrock Shuffle 8k in Chicago"
If you're a serious track fan in this day and age, you should have Instagram. Many of the top runners actively share updates on that platform. I signed up last year just so I can see their updates.
KS is essentially done as an elite runner. Her breakthroughs with Shelby were suspicious but she had a nice career and I am sure she is a great person.

I reject the premise that anyone should have social media for any reason. It's societal poison.

You are not wrong but is this platform considered social media? It does have a toxic element at times.

No. It's all about how it's used and how much.
Social media is how the OP got the news about Schweizer directly from the source. That's a good thing.

You don't understand. You don't HAVE to use Instagram as social media. You can just follow your favorite runners and use Instagram as a news source. You DON'T have to post anything or interact with anyone.

You don’t HAVE to use Instagram period though. He seems to be doing fine without it. Maybe he fears he would get addicted. Whatever the case, he doesn’t want it.

I totally agree with your stance that following people Insta is quick and easy and keeps you informed, however, it's not so easy to not "post anything or interact with anyone." The algorithm will keep feeding you something until you respond either positively or negatively and it will then use that to feed you more. For example, it may start feeding you monster truck posts, so much that you have to block them. That then feeds it to do something else, maybe Care Bears stuff. Soon you get sick of that on your feed and it will do something else. You don't even have to actively click, it monitors how long you spend looking at something. Look at it too long and bang, you get a bunch more just like it. Eventually it will figure out something to engage you to click or comment and they got you.

If you only have social media for the purpose of staying informed about people and things you are interested then you aren’t ingesting the poison. But yeah, go ahead and keep being afraid.
