Per her IG post she has run her last race in msu uniform. Transferring somewhere i assume?
Rachel's older sister Sarah is on the MSU track/xc team and is a senior this year. They are very close, so I'm really surprised that Rachel announced she is leaving 3 months early. Something crazy must have happened to cause Rachel to bail on her sister.

is it really bailing? She's just saving a year of outdoor eligibility. She's still going to be at MSU until the semester ends and her sister presumably graduates. This gives her time to take visits.
Per NCAA rules she can’t enter the portal until May. However she can save this season for a 5th year. And her intent to enter the portal will help her be able to unofficially explore options
She's following the NC St XC and TF Instagram account, so that seems likely. On a quick search of her following list for accounts with "XC" or "TF," NC St was the only school it showed.
I counter: Alabama. Won't get any slower training with Doris and Caren and, as with several of the other options mentioned, a XC natl team title is on offer. Local southern culture might be a challenge, though.

Challenger - Oregon

Rachel is not someone who is comfortable with most people or most situations. Her sister being at Michigan State was a big reason why Rachel decided to go there.
I think that Laurie Henes is someone who can help Rachel feel comfortable in a new situation better than most other coaches. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Rachel is already familiar with some of the women on the NC State team like Jessie Jazwinski, Sadie Engelhardt, Emily Wisniewski, and Bethany Michalak.
Big10 moved today for ncaa to legalize tampering. It would be perfectly normal for a student looking to transfer for pure academics for fall '26 to already be investigating options and applying....so why not an athlete?

Is this considered creepy or no?
I think it's fine... Her account is public, and it's just a matter of doing a word search, not scrolling through every single account she follows. And there's enough interest for people to be speculating in this thread, so why not try to figure it out?
I tried explaining the situation at MSU over the last 20 years regarding the women’s distance program. I guess I was too specific naming names as my post was deleted. I will say this. Rachel Forsyth is leaving for good reason and I hope she will share her story some day.
