Wins by ~ 6 seconds in 3:41.43 to finish out his season. Looked like a stroll in the park for him. Unfortunately Tanner was unable to compete due to an achilles injury.

Winning a national title is a little more impressive if someone is American, British or Kenyan. Was there another guy in his race that has run sub-3:40?

Dunno why it should be, if Olympic titles and medals are the yardstick then NZ is almost as successful as those countries with a fraction-of-a-fraction of the population / resources.

I assume you are talking about the 1500 only because otherwise what?

Well yeah, that is the topic we're talking about yes.

If you exclude Olympics up to 1920, which were a joke and don't really count, and hand over Kiprop's doped title to Willis then we are pretty much on a par with titles & medals of those very 3 countries.

Wow, that’s an impressive finish—winning by around 6 seconds in 3:41.43 is no small feat! Sounds like he really had control of the race and made it look easy. It’s a shame Tanner couldn’t compete due to his Achilles injury; he would have made the race even more exciting. Hope he recovers quickly.

None of those guys were in the race. Of the guys that were actually were, most of them have never broken 3:50(for 1500m).
