Kerley did not run a 9.60. According to mboard poster "R.I.C.O. Young" a frame by fame analysis shows something more like a 10.18 if you add in 0.10 for a reaction time.

Considering he can run this in practice, I’d recon with competitors flanking him, an environment of a WC stadium & crowd, and an officer approaching behind the starting blocks with a warrant for domestic violence we could see sub-9.5
I know Fred Kerley had a rough upbringing and I respect the hell out of his path to reach the top of his sport, but I find his socials over the last several months to be just unbelievably cringy. Guy is actively banned for an anti-doping violation and training for the enhanced games and just posts absolute clown sh*t on a regular basis. Feels like he's just going to be desperately fighting to stay relevant while his career winds down at this point.
I'm sure he wanted this to be the news instead of his 2 year ban that was just announced.
As someone who believes there is less an a 1% chance Bolt's record was achieved without PEDs, given virtually all of his elite training partners and teammates from that era were eventually popped, I'll hold whatever the new record will be with the same level of respect as the current.
I am curious as to what the real clean WR is. Other than Bolt who I suspect just was never caught, failure was swept under the rug, etc... every other runner with a sub 9.76 has bans to their name.
my experience every sport you're better in practice than a meet. the kids coming on here saying "project my time off practice splits" miss that aspect. (that and they are seeking a premature attaboy before they do their PR time in a meet, that they haven't earned)
you need to be able to run under a record time in practice to make the record for real.

Oh, he was likely caught, but things were covered up, “for the good of the sport,” of course. Just like King Carl. Just like scores of Africans over the years.
