Last year, Great Britain's Highgate Harriers' "postponed" its Night of the 10,000 PBs meet, claiming it "needed to give its volunteers a break."
What was not mentioned was whether ON had pulled its meet sponsorship.
Some, including myself, were critical of this decision -- or at the least the "volunteers need a break" explanation. HH's people immediately pushed back, claiming all is well and 2026 is good-to-go.
Well, guess what. The 2026 meet has been "postponed" as well.
Highgate Harrier's spokesman has only stated he "hopes" to bring back the meet in 2027.
This makes HH look pretty irresponsible at best and incompetent at worst.
T&F needs more 10,000 opportunities, not fewer. The only high-quality 10,000 meets left are Sound Running's The TEN in March and Pre Classic's race in summer -- presuming Pre decides to hold a 10,000 race. No other DL races do. Nor do the CT meets to the best of my knowledge.
Anyone who really knows the story here, please reply.
