This was a valid and well-deserved DQ. Galdino tried to force space where there was not an opening, created contact (deserving of a DQ on its own), and then took 3+ steps inside of the rail. Seems pretty cut and dry by the rules.
To dumb it down, the guy acted like a jackass and earned the DQ he was given.
Think of the mind that celebrates after having taken three steps inside the rail.
Not only the celebration but the looking to the side at his opponents and shaking his head in the final straight, then stretching his arms out wide (another impediment). Garbage mentality and actions. I hope the coach has a stern talk with him and gets the kids mind right.
Totally the right call, he would not have crossed the line first without his impediment of others.

meanwhile half the field can run well inside the haybales and the painted line at NCAA XC and it's just fine.
I mean, clearly he was DQed for running half the turn inside the rail, but what an embarrassment for his coaches and team. That’s way worse than just getting out leaned at the line after celebrating too early. Plus, this is conference. If you’re going to celebrate, do it at NCAAs.
This kid needs a good talking to from his father. Holy cow.

You have to blame that one the NCAA or whomever set up the race course!
