Where does the inspiration and motivation to get into race-walking even spring from in the first place? It’s awkward in a forced manner, unnatural, gimmicky/borderline flawed, completely unpopular…if distance RUNNING is considered “niche,” then distance race-walking belongs in a shadowy corner of Athletics’ broom closet.
Long story short, it seems like something that should’ve never left the drawing board. How and why does it receive any substantial funding?
