Pay the bill. Get a snow blower.
This is a job which requires specialized gear like this Polaris Ranger XP 1000 NorthStar. $1000 seems like a deal.

Yes, because negotiating AFTER the work is done always works

Do it yourself, plowboy. Otherwise, quit complaining.

You are an idiot for buying a property with an 800 ft driveway if you can't afford the maintenance.
And the lesson is to know the price of what you are buying before you commit to buy it.
Are you an adult or did Dad ask you to get the driveway cleared while he was gone and you blew it?
Yaa exactly! People are so naive! If he quoted you 300 and swiped for 1000 just file immediately in court. But if you didn't agree on a price and you didn't either sign a contract or tape him in a one-party consent state.... then you are sol.
Kanye says you are a moron

Supply vs. demand. This is the fee that the current market will pay.
Good for the plow guy. He starved the last three winters.
The 2025/2026 Polaris RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar Edition is a
top-tier UTV starting around $33,000–$35,000,
featuring a fully enclosed factory cab with HVAC (heat/AC), an 82-HP
ProStar engine, and a 4,500 lb winch. It offers 14 inches of ground
clearance, a 1,000 lb capacity dump box, and 2,500 lb towing.
If that is too expensive for you, get a shovel for $30

move to florida, done deal
Well, you could have (attempted it) done it yourself. Depending on the width of the driveway, and the depth of the snow it could have easily take you 6 or more hours, and depending on your fitness level, perhaps cost you a heart attack.

Or just get a plow attachment for your riding mower...very cheap alternative if you cant get a UTV.
No reason to own a home with a driveway that long and not be prepared with equipment to clear the driveway yourself.
So have an almost 250 meter long driveway???
Usually only people in the country have driveways that long and those people usually own a truck.
If you're some suburban douchenozzle that has way too much property then you kind of deserve to get screwed by the plow guy.
That's expensive, but not so expensive a judge is going to balk. You'll have to pay. Next time ask the price first. If you live somewhere that just got hammered like providence this might even be a fair price.

Some snow removal companies charge by the square foot. Some charge by distance. Some charge a service call + the plow rate. Some charge by how deep the snow is. Some only charge a rate for the whole winter. You need to find out before you negotiate after.
There are cheaper ways to do this. Get one of those weighted sleds you see at the gym that they use in hyrox competitions, take the weights off and affix a triangular shaped plough at the front. Then push it down your driveway. Or if you don't have enough upper body strength, breed a team of sled dogs and have them pull it down your drive for you. Refuse to help your elderly neighbours with their drives and wait until they become snowed in. When they perish from hunger, feed your dogs their corpses to save money on dog food.
