I feel this is what happens when you go all in... I did the same.. had a great job, opted to quit to train for the Trials and within months got injured after not having an injury running 120-130 mile/weeks while working 8-6pm.

Except Keira was wildly successful with her running and didn't give up her great job. I'm confident she will be back running at a high level for her age grade - she loves running competitively.

I'd take the surgery she's had that came with her running success any day of the week, in fact, if it wasn't for the successful foot surgery a podiatrist performed on her when she still lived in Northern Virginia, she never would have had her incredible post-collegiate running career.

Except she stopped working, moved across the country, and started running full time.

Not until she had already established herself as one of the best female American distance runners.

She never established herself as one of the country’s best runners. She had one good race which broke the American record (but in a time that is internationally pedestrian) and what since?
Moved across the country, ditched her husband, and made some jokes on Strava.

She's held the AR in the 10 mile, the 1/2 marathon and the marathon. How did that not establish her as one of America's best at that point in time?
It appears Keira has had hip surgery this past week. Speedy recovery hopefully. Also means no Boston
I do believe it's better to burn out than rust... aka Salazar quote.
"It's better to burn out than it is to rust*" was made famous by Neil Young in his song "Hey, Hey, My, My," but is often credited to Young's friend Jeff Blackburn of the band The Ducks.
As well as its variations, "It's better to burn out than to fade away" and "It's better to burn out, 'cause rust never sleeps."
