I have this gem on my I-pod and every time I hear the song it makes me feel good. It also makes me want to go and get wasted.

A great song but actually it sort of makes me depressed. Reminds me of laying around Sunday morning with a hangover while other people are heading out for a run or going to church.
I can totally relate to it. Especially the part about picking your clothes off the floor and putting them on.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Sunday Morning Coming Down
Johnny Cash
(The Essential Johnny Cash)
Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.
I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking.
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playing with a can that he was kicking.
Then I walked across the street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone frying chicken.
And Lord, it took me back to something that I'd lost
Somewhere, somehow along the way.
On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down.
In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughing little girl that he was swinging.
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the songs they were singing.
Then I headed down the street,
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing,
And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.
On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down
I guess that feel good was not the proper term. I think more than anything it kinda rekindles a spirit inside of me that would love to live that lifestyle for a few weeks, rather than my suburban, 9-5, Starbucks life.
I can also see how it would be depressing. Cash was the man!
Never heard it. Its not from one of those American Idol shows is it?

He was, then he decided to become a bad actor.

I would luv to spend an evening, and few brews, and a few hours to chat about his life.....
Sunday is good but I'd vote for Crazy, written by Willie and performed by Patsy.

You are an imbicile and a clown.
By the way, Roger Miller was the first to record Kristofferson's "Me and Bobbie McGee". There's another genius for you.
Absolute agreement about Miller ...

All due respect to Patsy, Willie and you I've always hated that tune. Never could understand why it was so popular.
I heard a story Willie sold that song in a barroom one night while going through some tough times. And he never looks back

Help Me Make It Through The Night
It's Flagpole Willy's favourite. He loves Country and Cash.
