The only way to solve this is for Canada to become the cherished 51st state. No more artificially drawn line from many years ago. Look how beautiful this land mass would be. Free access with NO BORDER. ALL POSITIVES WITH NO NEGATIVES. IT WAS MEANT TO BE! America can no longer subsidize Canada with the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year that we have been spending in the past. It makes no sense unless Canada is a State!
The US kills way more every year, against their will. Maybe we should get annexed by them instead.
canada is weird. This nonsense, crazy taxes/prices to pay for "free healthcare, eh, and they went a little too overboard with Muh immigration. On a related note many in canada are really butthurt at the moment, won't come into the U.S. Go for it.
As a Canadian I've strongly opposed assisted suicide (I refuse to use the Orwellian whitewashing term "medical assistance in dying") from the start. Unfortunately, it was the Supreme Court of Canada that ruled that prohibiting it was unconstitutional, so the government (even if it had the conviction and guts) couldn't simply disregard it, but there are still plenty of measures it could and should have taken to avoid the road we've gone down and are still going. But ultimately the only thing that will work is a fundamental cultural change (and, I would argue, a religious revival) that restores a public sense of the dignity of human life and the need to support the vulnerable unconditionally.
Dr. Ellen Wiebe has personally overseen more than 400 assisted deaths since MAiD became legal in Canada. She is one of Canada’s most prominent MAiD practitioners and has also served in advisory roles for national euthanasia advocacy groups. Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) law does not require that someone be terminally ill in order to be eligible.

This is a huge part of the problem. These "doctors" can get rich off of these procedures. They encourage and groom perfectly healthy people, some of whom may just be going through a difficult phase, to die. These are people that could have easily had alternative therapy or treatment to get back on track and lead normal productive lives. And it destroys the lives of their family members and friends. Having a culture of death and destruction, all so the death doctors can enrich themselves, is not a good path to go down.
This is very similar to the trans trend we just went through in the US. Doctors and hospitals performing life altering surgeries, many on minors, all to virtue signal and to make a ton of money. They dont care about the lives they destroy in the process.

I like the way we do it here in the US...Lot's cheaper...
Depressed people can just go down and buy a gun to off themselves...
And between 25-30K do exactly this every single year.
And deserving, patriotic people like gun shop owners, arms manufacturers, and ammo makers and of course your big box sporting stores and Walmart make the money...
Not some greedy doctor.
And in the mean time... the rest of us alpha Americans get to call the depressed person who shot himself "a coward" or say "he took the easy way out" and claim "it wasn't the gun". Now of course we don't say anything like that in front of the family... just behind their backs as we demonstrate our "empathy" by talking about how the coward "destroyed the life of their family and friends."

If someone who does not have a terminal disease reaches out for help, the help they receive ought to be to steer them away from suicide, not towards it. Someone commited to suicide will just go ahead and do it; someone reaching out for help is not committed to killing themselves

If somebody wants to kill themselves, it's impossible to stop. They can cut their wrists, jump out of a building, turn their car on in a closed garage, etc. Nobody gets rich, just a tragic ending the individual chose.
But if you cant see the difference between that unpreventable situation and a licensed doctor, whose job is to help people recover, grooming and encouraging people to die instead of get better, when they are at a weakened and impressionable mental state, then you are lost. They have the chance to help them. Instead they say, "no, you should die instead. It will remove all your pain, it will feel great". Its disgusting to do that to people who could have killed themselves and are instead reaching out for help.
Here is a story of a girl who went to jail for such things. But for some reason we think its a good idea for doctors to do this and get rewarded?
Then go out and do something about it, instead of posting your crap on here day after day, hour after hour. It is people like you that wreck this country - constantly whining and complaining, but doing absolutely nothing to find solutions. If the law is sick - change it. Or are you a beta that can't do anything.
