Hocker is definitely going to be tested. I don’t believe we will be seeing any sleeping gestures by him at the end of this race.

Hocker's outdoor Mile pb is 3:47.43 and indoors 3:50.35 from 2025. Indoors Sam's pb is almost 2 seconds faster than Cole Hocker. Coke will not be able to run away from Sam, instead Hocker will have to remain contact and outkick Sam Ruthe.

Yet no one has run close to the best outdoor times for that distance yet. So no indoor track has so far matched the best conditions outdoors. I'll still go with the likelihood that he could be 1-2 secs faster outdoors.

Not all PRs are created equal. Ruthe’s mile PR comes converts to a 3:32 1500m, compared to Hocker’s 3:27.65. Ruthe will not beat a fit Hocker this year.

I believe the opposite is true. A positive split and getting passed by multiple runners is something to lose. Hocker has already proved himself by winning the biggest Olympic 1500m in history. Whatever he runs today, will soon be forgotten.
