Obviously very talented but one of the worst personalities in the sport.
I'd be surprised if any of the big companies give him a contract, just not worth the risk and bad look for them.
Hard agree. It’s edgy to your homies when you’re 18-20. It’ll pathetic when you’re speaking this way as a post-collegiate adult. Imagine he interviews the way he does now…as a 30 year old. Just lol.
My opinions on Marco have seriously worsened after this race. I always thought the fake hood/gangster was odd (probably caused by a lack of a father figure in his life) but for a guy who’s whole persona is racing brave to go into lane 3 in the last straight demonstrates how much of a pu$$y he really is.

Ehhhhhh I'd say somewhat unhinged maybe, but it's intriguing. It's entertaining.
We need some characters in this sport, and this guy's the real deal.

Of course he'll get a pro contract. He's one of the best 3k 5k guys in the NCAA. I know he dove into lane 3 today, and he says the f word a lot, but he's really good, and it looks like he's still improving. He'll definitely get a pro contract
Yes he will get a contract but no he will not be good for a brand. I find him incredibly boring and predictable. His fake bad boy image just doesn’t resonate to anyone over 18 years old. I’ve seen many kids in the neighborhood that acted like that as a 13-16 year old and they all did one of 2 things. 1. Grew up and laughed at their old self or 2. Escalated the behavior and went to jail. What happens is they realize their behavior is boring and tired and need to take it to the next level for others to notice.
I have met Marco and honestly he was very respectful and seems like a nice kid. Kid being the operative word. His attitude and personality are a result of immaturity in my opinion. Everyone grows up at some point and if Marco was interested in the money and a pro contract he would start to see that hes worth more money as a respectable athlete and person. He may be getting attention now but the present antics will hurt his financial potential moving forward. If he’s really after optimal money and longevity of a pro contract to take care of his family, as he states, it is time for him to take responsibility over his actions.
Agreed. He's got some time to mature and I truly wish that for him. This manufactured attitude works for getting attention but it doesn't work as well for gaining respect. I'd feel embarrassed if he were to represent the USA against international competition with that behavior.

It's one thing to act like he does as a freshman or sophmore, 18 or 19 years old. He's 21 and a senior. If he hasn't changed by now, I just don't think he's going to.

Who do you think has the bigger contact. Noah Lyles, Kung-Fu Kenny, Fred Kerley, and Courtney Lindsey.
Kenny is arguably the respectable guy, which by your logic, should be the household name.
Noah struck the right balance of loud, but not too loud. He's the guy people know.
Fred made noise, but not the right kind of noise, and no one wants to touch him.
And Courtney won't be known outside of the diehard track fan circles.
All can compete for global medals, but their contracts have a lot more to do with what happens of the track. Noah hit the sweet spot. People either love him, or love to hate him, but he's making bank either way.
The big question is, does Marco shape to to be a Noah or a Fred. We know he's not a Kenny or a Courtney.
