Altitude is good for the sprinters, throwers, and jumpers. The 100m-400m are far more popular with track fans than the 1500m-10000m. Evelyn Ashford and Calvin Smith both set World Records in the 100m on the same day at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in 1983.
Unfortunately it's indie TV, very small amount of viewers, so many of the suggestions have very loq quantity of permanent seats, no onsite parking, not enough urinals, far off locations, etc.
I hope fans show up to 2026 USATF Lone Star Grand Prix.
USA Track & Field depends on local organizing committees and volunteers to execute marketing via groups like 12th Man Productions, Texas A&M University and the City of College Station and sell tickets to fill stadiums like E.B. Cushing Stadium.
People like Jay Holder, USATF Communications need our help to show up and buy tickets to show that track is viable in multiple sites and locations.

OK for usatf in non OT years. Ive seen no sellouts/full stadium for any meets other than hs state championships in the last 40 years usatf or ncaa. It might fill up and require north end extra seating for OT but having the throws outside the stadium isnt good. They need a better warmup area as well.

You haven't seen a meet other than hs state championships sell out? Millrose sold out this year. People were making threads begging for ticket resale on letsrun.

I assure you, I've seen more sold out meets in person than you have. At Drake stadium, sold out means all of the tickets have been sold to corporate to meet the "sold out" status for the Drake Relays. It's been a LONG time since the stadium actually looked full. Maybe when Allan Webb broke Steve Scott's mile record on a nice day but Drake Relays is usually pretty sparsely attended due to weather and the fact that there are plenty of other meets in better locations weather wise and the fact that ncaa regionals loom.
As far as hosting usatf or ncaa goes Drake Stadium is actually half empty or more for the 4 days. It's embarrassing. Hayward Field is also more than half empty for ncaas and if it wasnt for all the athletes and coaches, it would be absolutely abysmal. If you want to see a full stadium at Drake, attend the Iowa hs state championship meet. That's pretty much the only time that stadium is full now. Drake Relays used to be like that before mid 90s.
Only thing is capacity there is 2000 people. If they had a bigger stadium with more seating for track, they could easily accommodate the crowd as they host major PGA events just up the road at Torrey Pines.
Won't be popular but Des Moines might be the best location. Affordable, centrally located, acessible, and the venue is adequate.
No one outside the midwest wants to travel there. If they could have the meets around Chicago or Minneapolis, that'd be ideal for midwest. Its probably an ideal location for the teams for NCAAs though, just not fans.
