Anyone see that? It looked like her entire knee went sideways.
Probably not a good idea to ski with a torn acl. Were there no alternates that could compete for her? Why aren’t people all mad like they were at okeefe

The alternates were at home, watching the Princess Lindsey Show from their couch.
When you are supposed to be representing something bigger than yourself why would you eat up a spot and waste a medal opportunity for TEAM USA when you have zero chances of winning. This is different from good sportsmanship being displayed when you are finishing a race after being injured. This was selfish

BS She actually had a chance of winning and her team mate actually won.
Frustrating as a viewer to start watching the nbc replay of events, and having them ruin the surprise by telling us right in the beginning that Lindsey Vonn crashed and Breezy medaled. Turned it off immediately and watched on youtube tv instead. So annoyed. Related to Lindsey, I hope the damage isn’t too bad.

It's not like she's 18 and can look forward to three or four more Olympics. This was her last shot and she went for it. Props for giving it her best shot.
That looked pretty bad. She was airlifted out of there. Even if it's her last Olympics, is it worth major surgery or not being able to walk normally again? Imo no. Maybe that's why I'm not an Olympian.

There is more media coverage of her crash than the American winning.
Look, she won the spot, so it was her right to decide to go or not. But she crashed out very early in the run on a part that wasn’t even that difficult relative to what was still to come. She had no realistic shot today.
I guess O’Keefe could have run a mile further and been carried off the course in dramatic fashion, and maybe people would say “she went for it.” But there is not much difference between the two, except O’Keefe had never been in an Olympics and might never get to go again, and Vonn has been in a bunch and needed to have the spotlight one more time.

She had the 3rd fastest qualifying time heading into the finals.
In simpler terms: she had a legit medal chance and no other American belonged on the line. The same could not be said about Okeefe.
For anyone bashing on Vonn/coaches for even starting, grab your raisin sized nuts and go back to bed. She rode the lightning all the way into a bodybag off the mountain.

Except she literally skied the same slope earlier in the competition with the 3rd fastest time heading into the final. She did have a chance.
Okeefe could barely walk, let alone realistically run 26.2 miles. There were 10 other Americans who belonged over her (I don't blame her for starting- there could be contractual stuff that incentivized it)
You have to ruthlessly subordinate everyone else to be that great a champion. That is what Vonn did because she had that will to win that triumphs over all sense. Meanwhile, a 30 year old Breezy Johnson, who was suspended a few years ago for three missed tests, wins gold after a series of major injuries.
