The US gets another indoor WORLD RECORD - 7:10.29 in 4 x 800!!!

I added in the splits to the OP's post. Great split from Sean Dolan all alone to get the WR. Very cool he did it presumably with his dad (Steve Dolan - Upenn coach) watching in the stands.

Upenn had the lead at the 1st exchange but ATC was pretty much all alone after the first 400 of the 2nd leg. Here is the final 100 or so.

Of course the USA has the record for this exciting and very popular event.

Good for Sean. He's been having some rough patches since joining atlanta. Good to see him run a nice race and get back on his feet.

He should have picked Atalanta.

A handful.of college teams could run this fast.

It may not mean much to other countries but the 4x800 is a big tradition in US running. Very competitive in high school running

It absolutely is, but the fact that something is very important in the US, but only in the US, does not make it any more impressive as a world record, particularly when you are talking about an indoor world record.

I actually am not sure that any specific club has 4 guys that can *average* under 1:45 indoors.
If we took the 4 best from any club and had them all peak at the same, the indoor record could be in the low 6:50s.

The 4x800 and or DMR needs to be an Olympic event

ATC member for many many years. Not happy my dues pay for this nonsense. Not one of these elite runners has anything in common with Atlanta. They add nothing to the community, many don’t even live here. ATC Grand Prix series used to have 10 free races for members. Now it’s 4. If they suddenly eliminated the elite teams, not one member would notice the difference.
