This video is making the rounds on a lot of the mainstream media sites. It shows Sha'Carri Richardson pass the police car, use her turn signal, and then allegedly accelerate to over 100mph. Then you see the interaction with the officer where she begs not to go to jail once she realizes he is serious.
"I am a law-abiding citizen... Sir, please don’t allow me to go to jail.”"
There's already threads on this. I thought you wanted 1 thread per topic
The more something is about the running world or someone in it, we're more likely to let there be more threads. 1) The video being released is being picked up nationwide.
2) In the other thread, people don't even realize the video is out.
3) I had no idea the video was out until seeing it on 2 other mainstream news sites so it warrants its own thread.
I don't think gut wrenching means what you think it means...
When I first heard about her driving 104 and going to jail I thought "yeah that's what happens". When I watched the video and saw her pleading with the officer it was definitely gut wrenching to me. I felt a lot of sympathy for her.
Its not gut wrenching and she needs to grow up. She did 104 mph, she could have killed multiple people. Each successive generation gets softer. Youngsters these days. Eyeroll.
From the video, it’s pretty clear she is accelerating just to pass slower traffic, which is legal in my state (Florida is a weird place so maybe it is not there?). Seems like there was no safety risk, and she used her turn signal. Weird to me that she was even pulled over.
The cop is a dick. When your first words are wipe that smile off your face, you are looking for a confrontation. He has no idea what her face looks like or what or if she was smiling at in the 2 seconds after looking at her. Substandard equipment - WTF does that mean, is that a dig on her car? After seeing her flash the car in front, he was going 72MPH when he said he was giving her a path to get by and then he sped up to 80MPH, essentially forcing her to speed in order to merge. He was going to write that ticket whether it was 80 or 100 because he didn't like her flashing at the car in front. She also wasn't tailgating, she had to keep speeding up to get over because he kept speeding up. There was nothing reckless or unsafe about what she did. Only a dick would arrest someone for that, especially when it was borderline entrapment by speeding up when she was trying to merge. A $2 lawyer will beat this and she has more than $2. There are a lot of things wrong with Sha'Carri, but this ain't one of them.

honestly, this is pathetic.
she is undertaking, flashing people, driving at 104mph in a 65, in reasonably heavy traffic, which is all incredibly stupid, aggressive and dangerous, and then she goes all pathetically whiny and entitled female and you fall for it?
man up.
but i do think the police officer is a dick. and why do you 'go to jail' for that?
in the uk, oyu just get a ticket on the spot, then an notice of intended prosecution, go to court and, contrary to my previous post, yes you would be done for 'driving without due care and attention' after that video, several hundred pound fine (means tested, do maybe higher) and probably a 12 month ban and maybe need a retest.

she passed an officer at 74 mph on the record. ultimately, topping out at 104. on the record. in every state i know of, that is a felony, let alone criminal. doesn't matter what the reasons are. she is putting herself and others lives in danger. it is sad that she disregarded or was not aware of this or the laws. that's on her. the officer has this video passing him. doesn't matter if he is going 75 or 105. if you pass an offer speeding, you can't expect good things to happen. you not knowing this is telling of your maturity and responsibility level. now who is the dick?

Extreme speed is indefensible. But it's priceless to read the rationalizations and deflections of the idiotic aggressive driving types.
You obviously had zero comprehension toward anything. The officer said substandard equipment only after Sha'carri tried to blame her speeding on tire problems. She said, "my tire on the back is literally on 29."
That's the brainstorm she came up with. The officer showed remarkable restraint in not condemning her further.
After Sha'carri passed the officer, it was slightly more than 10 seconds before he began the count up, "100...101..."
She had plenty of time to slow down and blend with traffic. There would not have been a citation. But since she's a nutcase and unconcerned with anyone else on the road, she was properly escorted to jail.
i cant believe anyone is stupid enough to say; the reason i was driving at over 100mph is that my car is dangerously unsafe. Or; my phone interfered with the driving of my car, so i put my foot down and swerved through traffic.
I cant believe anyone is stupid enough to 'try to help someone' at a traffic stop by turning up with illegal drugs in the car.
No, wait.........
conversations at the US olympic team breakfast must be difficult.
