Not a machine, but I also really enjoy the male locker room at the gym. As do others, based on how many follow me into the steam room!

Anything worth doing, you can accomplish with 1 or 2 dumbbells. Preferably one, as few body movements are "symmetric." Body does things one side at a time.

At the gym, it's the cable machine. The one with the two adjustable cables about 7 feet apart. You can work all the upper body muscles: core, back, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps, delts.
For an inexpensive home gym, it's a bench and a few sets of dumbbells.
The Reverse Hyper is a great machine in an absolute sense, but especially since no local gym has it. It develops glutes, hams, and lower back, all in a safe position. Lower back rehab is a primary use.
I really need to find a better place for it than my living room...

If you want to build an absolute shelf, the hip thrust machine is an absolute must. Absolutely my favorite machine in the gym. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone.
I get the most use out of a kettlebell (35 lb) heavy bag, jump rope, chin bar, and rowing machine. I can get a great workout using only those pieces of equipment. As a matter of fact, i could use just the kettlebell & jump rope and get a great workout. I also like my squat rack.
