Nice post from his wife Julia about it on facebook. He ended a 33-year sub-4 drought for HS boys. Crazy. He was the first US HSer to break 4 indoors. 3:59.86.
PS. And the letsrun.com singlet was just behind - not afraid to be posterized by a legend.

I used to race against Webb in high school. My goal was just to not get lapped in the 3200m (outdoors). He was always a super nice guy and demonstrated humility at that young age.
I could have sworn that he broke 4 as a junior. I guess not.
Would've got $40k from Diadora if he was born 25 years later
this thread exists first to showcase the letsrun singlet and second to talk about Alan Webb. i'm doubtful it would have been posted if the letsrun shirt wasn't in the pictures

What you're thinking of is a sub 4 1600 DMR leg he ran as a junior I believe.
Wow, the Armory has come a long way since then. Wasn’t alive for this record but I remember when Drew Hunter broke it 15 years later.

I also raced against him in HS but only once or twice in XC. What school did you run for?
