It depends. But, you need to have a minimum of 26 for 200 to get to those times, faster is better.

Don't you guys understand by now that running is about strengths in many different areas, whether it be endurance, speed, lactate threshold...there is no set number that will allow you to run any time...if you want it, train your ass off and see how fast you get.
I've run 200s all out in 27 high and 400s all out in :56. Some people are just sloooooooow.

I know running is about strengths, but I still think it is a valid question. Obviously one cannot run a 4:00 mile if his max 400 is a 58. I'm just wondering in general what kind of speed is needed.
