Looks like Birnbaum signed a sweetheart deal with Diadora a la Langon.
Is an NIL deal really all that interesting at this point? I guess it might be mildly interesting that an Oregon athlete took a Diadora deal, but whatever.

It isn’t. A kid from my area got a minor sponsorship as like a 9:00 guy
Despite what the losers above say, I think these NIL deals are still pretty cool - Especially for brands like Diadora. I hope they continue to throw more money at athletics. Some of their racing shoes look decent too. When I first read the thread title, I assumed he signed with Nike.

I suppose it is to guys from my era. We were a consistent top 3 D1 and team went from Adidas to Reebok to Nike in the span of 5 years. Getting kit was like a revelation to us each season. The point is, there certainly wasn't any money involved. We stashed half of our meal per diem envelope given to us for race weekends to have as extra cash during the week.

Its embarrassing for Nike. You'd think they'd be doing everything in their power to make sure they offered the best deal to U of Oregon athletes.
