Citizen since January 2025. But will likely have to wait until next year until he can represent the US internationally.
Unless the rule was changed, he's already eligible to set American records.

Yes he can set records, but not be on teams.

World Athletics Profile changed his country of affiliation to USA in October 2025.
The process takes a long time. Zouhir's wife is in the elite field in the 2026 Houston marathon. They live in Colorado Springs and he will announce a sponsor in the next few.
Zouhair Talbi shares his training in today's discussion before 2026 Houston Marathon with the Life In Stride podcast (2:22 marathon host Chris and ...).
The weather this weekend on Sunday in Houston, Texas is 45 degree F with a north to south 5 mph light wind.
Did his ASICS sponsorship end?
His 2:05:45 win makes US marathoning more interesting. Surprised not to see more threads about this.

One spot gone
Trump will move to de-naturalize him soon enough. He's taking a spot from a slower white man.

Well that's just in time for LA 2028. Ufff. If Maier and Clinger can translate their half marathon performance to the full, those 3 spots are not guaranteed to anyone 😬😬😬
up to age 26, this guy could not make ncaa anything, not even close.
ge was running 8 05 to 825 for 3000m, and at age 27 drops 739. and who knows what he could have done with a perfect race?
this guy is ultra red flag.
what the guys are on is creatine nac, berrebine, peptdes, aminos, vitk,d glutamine, bicarb. nitric oxide boost, electrolyte basics
i am taking a very small stack without big sophistication, game changer peptides. probably nearly legal for competition. and prob much cleaner than any elite, thete will be no competitions...
and the endurance and strength is game changed ... by test
no way i would attempt a marathon or ultra prior.
but now, i dont get tired really on 3 hour.
it would have been nice to have the aminos and derrivatives which ate nat, to avoid hitting the wall of long term exhaustion... back in the day.

Talbi was always talented. As a 17 year old in Morocco he ran 8:18/3000, and a year later 8:11 at age 18. He could have been a top Frosh recruit in any NCAA Division 1 team at age 18, but his English was not up to scratch, back then.
Click on his progression from 2012 at age 17 to now and you will realize that his progression is very logical with nothing suspicious. At age 18, ran a 3:50/1500, decent speed (about 4:08.00 mile).
Dude is not going to jeopardize his future US status with doping. He's married and wants to start a family soon - he's thinking long term.
He's really built for the marathon - small and stocky, similar physique to Bekele.
Talbi is the real deal but time is of the essence because he's already 30 years old so I give him a five-year window possibly a bit longer. Depends on injuries, fatigue.
Talbi ceiling? I think 2:03:00-2:04:00. For reference Amdouni, the French record holder, ran 2:03:47 last year at age 36, in Sevilla, Spain.
Ghost1 you act as if you actually know Zouhair.
It's obvious you don't so stop writing as if you do.
I do know him well. He's not "looking to start a family" as his son (name withheld) was born last March. And you don't know if he's "thinking long-term" or not.

Thanks for the update. Sorry if anything I wrote was precipitated.
I saw about his son, "A.M.T. " on his Instagram page, so should have taken that into account.
Wish him the best. "Bonne chance."
Did America fast track another dude to help their medal count?
uSA! uSA!
