the segment record is 5:37. it's flat. i don't have a recent 5k PB. i'm more of an endurance guy than speed.

It's 1.84km. What do you have to lose just by trying it? How could any of us know precisely how fast you could run it?
i thought it would be close, so i'd need to taper, running on tired legs wouldn't work. if people here think i'm not close, then i won't bother.

What's your 1500m PR? Should tell you whether or not you're within striking distance.
You need to split 3:02 through the first k and then do almost another k at that pace.
Considering your 10k PB is 3:19 / k, seems doable if you're still in that shape.
i never really race middle distance events. i ran 1k in 3:01 a few months ago which was maybe a 95% effort
So do you have literally any PRs shorter than 10k distance? Guessing a <2k performance based off 10k alone is borderline impossible. Unless troll ofc, in which case 4/10 since I fell for it
You should easily be able to do it, but I judge you have a strong probability of not doing it because you lack the fire.
Previous posters are correct. You should be able to take the crown if you're close-ish to 10k PB shape. A 5.5minute effort is mostly aerobic with big emphasis on VO2 and efficiency at that speed.
which lake is this?

Flying to Bangkok next week to take the CR myself because I'm faster than you. Nothing personal kid

Based on 10k, easily.
Based on recent 1k, no.
So you can run the time, but you ain't ready/fit enough.
You for sure have a shot. That 3:01 1k is ~pace you would need to run -- somewhere between mile & 3k. It's a 2k time trial for you. You'd need to be sharp/fresh. Conditions need to be good. Is it a super runnable paved loop or trail? The latter makes things much more difficult if it's a slower surface.
No, a body of water of that size is a pond.
I was running around that time at age 25. I also ran about 4:10 1500 at the same time.
Today I ran 3x 1600m with 200m walking rest
5:24
5:20
5:16
People who race strava segments are fools.
kiss my crown, b1tch
It’s not a marathon so just run it. If you don’t like your result then run it again, a few days later. You can run it to kick off a workout so you won’t lose any fitness.
