Probably materially equivalent races. Walmsley ran that on a road/loop event thing (not a track) that had some vertical gain and was pretty warm. I wish they still kept the road/track records separate.

Walmsley didn't have real supershoes either. The Carbon X and X2 shoes didn't have any of the superfoam materials in the midsole. The Carbon X was lab tested to be no better than non-supershoe control shoes by labratrundown.

Walmsley ran his record in the Carbon X 2. I think Hoka was advertising it as a supershoe but it only had a carbon plate and not the foam that makes a shoe “super.”

No chance, he basically is only trying to rack up as many UTMB wins and WSER cougars while he can, the road/track stuff just isn’t gonna happen from him unfortunately

Temps were not ideal at Desert Solstice this year (upper 70s and sunny). Also, Charlie was running 5:55 miles and was often running in lane 2 because he had to navigate around 29 other people running 8-10 minute pace in the 100 mi and 24 hr races. You have to think he might be able to break 6hrs under more ideal circumstances.
