Most runners can't stay in top form all year. Nico and Shelbo peaked for World Track, meaning they likely took some time off afterwards and are still building back up. Rocky Hansen was still near his peak since he had just finished running NCAA champs. Nico could still have a big race at World XC.

Very true. Cooper just doesn’t have the upside to be a true world-level pro. Shelby flat out choked. And Nico might already be feeling the consequences of training in a Nike-run group while being an Adidas athlete, which has been a hot topic in other threads

I think you'll see a much different Graham and Nico at Worlds.

You think Nico running not so well at USATF, has anything to do with whether he improves on his 5000m AR or sets one for 10000m? An XC race pales in comparison.

Flying to Hawaii for a mile isn’t ideal prep for 10K XC obviously.

Yeah, exactly. With no outdoor Worlds on the calendar, a World Cross medal was a rare, wide-open opportunity in U.S. soil. Those don’t come around often. If you’re not all in when that window opens, it closes fast and it looks like that one’s gone.
