US HS studs doing notning in ncaa cross

The HS boys have to double their distance to run at regionals and nationals with 10k's. For every Nico Young or Parker Wolfe that takes to it quickly there are 10 HS stars that take a while to build up their aerobic engine to the point that they can be good at it, if they ever get to that point at all.

It's hard to turn a high schooler into an all-american in the xc 10k from June to November. That's probably why. Hope that helps.

All the sub 8:45/4:05 generational talents who wanted to run in college are. Dumba$$. I’m sure you sniffed Connor Burns jock in hs. lol. HS hero, college zero for 95% of these superstars. We’ve had like 15 rocky Hansons and only a few that has made it. Gorze, jones, Munson, Jenkins, downs, lex, Leo, Bergen, Griffith, Koon… pretty much nada.

Gary Martin and sahlman are exceptions.

All these guys should be filing it out in the top 20. High school burnouts most of them.

Well that's what happens when an underdeveloped 19 yr old is forced to race against a 28 year old grown man who has been training professionally for nearly a decade (in a country renowned for doping).

What do you think would happen if you took an up and coming amateur boxer and threw them in the ring with an experienced pro with 5-6 more years of full-time training? They would get mauled

All I hear about are how these high school kids are generational talents. Not every foreigner is 28.

These hs kids were running insane times on the track. No reason 2y later they can’t be forces in college 10k at 20/21yo which the classes if 22/23 are. Something is fishy about these kids. Overtrained or overhyped with super shoes making them seem better than they are.

Clearly a few exceptions. But with the plethora of depth at the hs ranks you would expect to see at least some of them at the Dance. Yet most aren’t even MAKING nationals. In fact, the non standouts are there as freshmen and sophomores.

The HS times are a joke. I think that’s been established at this point.

So US college freshmen are supposed to be able to beat pros from Epoya?

Texas Tech is running a 28 year old Freshman. Solomon Kipchoge.

Kids are doping, training like pros, and respond well to super shoes.

Every year there are usually only 1 or maybe 2 freshman that make an early impact. Those are the guys that will win NCAAs and then go on to make USA teams. The best predictor is early success in nuttycombe, regionals and nationals. Guys like Blanks, Wolfe, and Nico made early impacts. Hansen is the most recent. But after that Rocky I’m not seeing anyone making the early impact as these guys.

What are you mad about exactly? Freshman men have never been common at ncaas. Look back. Like a couple in the top 100 every year at most.

20 years ago a 14:00 strength guy was looking at top 75 at ncaas. A 13:30 strength guy would be trying to get top 10. If someone ran 8:50 in HS they cool look to get in sub 14 shape and develop strength by that fall but it’d usually take a year or two to be an all American strength and there were always a ton of stars who didn’t pan out. There’s a hundred guys who “should” be AA and only 40 spots plus there are internationals and late bloomers.

Now it’s like 13:30 to be a top 50 guy and 13:50 to be at the meet at all (top 7 on a good team). Most 8:50 two milers are not getting there in one fall while doubling the race distance. Give them a few years.
