Those 3 guys are the 3 I would have been most excited to see there. I like Blanks and Young well enough, but not as much as the 3 that will be missing. I do live close to it, so maybe it's worthwhile enough for that reason. I'm stating this very explicitly so nobody gets confused, I'm talking about the US championshipships, not World. I live near Portland, not Tallahassee.
I'm looking at a 6-hour drive to Tallahassee and if Valby qualifies, that will probably be enough to convince me to go. I've never seen her run in person and will take advantage of it. Unfortunately, living in the Southeast, we almost never have any pro track nearby. Everything is in Oregon, California, or (indoor) NYC or Boston. I did go to Atlanta and Gainesville last year for nice pro meets but neither meet was held this year.
NXN races are the same day at the same place an hour or two before the USATF races. Get to see the best high school runners as well as some of the best american pros.

I talked about doing that when I thought Mantz would be there, but I was told that you shouldn't watch HS athletics in person unless you personally know someone competing. I also have a 19 miler planned that day, so seeing all of NXN would require a very early start to that

I say go! Do a ten miler instead. The NXN is more of an all star type meet, not a dinky dual or tri meet so you shouldn't feel self conscious not knowing the runners. You could run (ha, ha) into friends/acquaintances in the running community you haven't seen for awhile and will be happy to see and converse with them. Sorry you wouldn't see Mantz, but you may become a fan of some else.
Would you really rather be raking leaves or Christmas shopping?

you guys are all simps
she's not even unusually attractive. tons of random women in my office building are a lot more attractive.
Do you really need a bunch of random people to decide this for you on here lol?? If you live that close, just go. It's like a once in a life time opportunity to watch not only top high school runners, but some of the US best pros almost in your backyard so to speak.
OP, your question is mostly valid. I'll say this, at 20 mins, im making the trip. I probably wouldn't make a 2 hour or longer trip, unless I had a fun group that wanted to tag along.

Portland is supposed to get about 2.5" of rain between now and race day. It will be a very messy event for spectators. There is ZERO PARKING and no dry areas to stand. Glendoveer is not known for it's excellent drainage. As a die hard fan in the area, I still haven't gone to watch Nxn and the addition of a few middling pros doesn't really bring more incentive to get soaked all day.

How can there be no parking? How far a walk is it from the closest realistic parking for spectators? I would go if it were within 2.5 hours almost certainly.

There's a college they say to park at and get a shuttle to the course from.

Just do the long run the day before or day after.
I'm not telling you to decide for me, but I do want to hear out the reasons to still go when I'm a bit disappointed about the field
Don’t waste your gas money or your time. The race competition is already watered down and more of the stars will likely back out at the last minute. The 4k race is a joke. USATF XC sucks. Don’t go.
