I'm kind of surprised that you don't know stipe. I would be curious too. Did the original have forefoot gel?
I've had 3 pair of the original, perfect shoe for me. 9.3 oz minimalist trainer, small gel in heel. No post, very soft cushioning.
Update is 8.8 oz. should have a pair by tomorrow.
Yes, the first version had gel in both the heel and forefoot. The specs and the appearance of the shoe seem almost identical. A few things about the original that could be improved: The outsole was "crunchy" and somewhat slippery and the midsole was a little too squishy. I'm just curious if the new version is any different.
here's a look
quite pedestrian looking compared to the bright yellow original.
i wish they had gone with something like the aussie version:

looks like the duo-sole pattern is different, no more "dots" on the bottom. the tongue looks a bit different, shorter? and the overlays on the back of the shoe are slightly different.
hope it's not too much different, i may have to load up on the ugly yellow version - it's a great shoe, but that yellow isn't my favorite color
They went to the oldschool DuoSole outersole on the forefoot, which will probably wear out a little quicker, but does make it lighter. The geometries went unchanged though, but they added a 1st met-head gel pad that has a nice feel. Essentially the same...if you liked the Speedstar, you'll like the Speedstar 2.
