You also have to understand that soccer (football in other countries) is the most widely played sport in the world. Running may go back into the dark ages but competitive running is not as mainstream when you step outside the running world. Plus, in europe there is so much money invested in soccer where as basketball is a predominantly American game like baseball and so there is a smaller pool of people to invest. If you talked about paying a 13yr old $1m in europe, no one would bat an eyelid. They have schools of excellence where those type of kids are groomed for soccer since year dot. have you guys heard of Wayne Rooney? Plays for Chelsea now in the English Premier League and was only 17 when he signed the contract. Has played for England when he was 18 and pisses on anything Webb has got or will get.

Hmm, sounds like someone's parents are out to make some quick money by using their kid. Parents will probably spend the money on extravagent vacations and luxuries and the kid will never know it was HIS money. Like those people who cover their kid's face with make-up and thrust the kid into beauty pagents, hoping that the kid will become famous and they (the parents) will become wealthy.
