I understand the course is slightly easier than in prior years, but 14:10 at Mt. SAC is ridiculous. Kid is a jr from Flagstaff. Anyone know anything about his background/training?

30 seconds off the previous course record. Didn't they get rid of one of the hills? Seems like that would make a big difference.
The new courses is longer as its now 3 miles so it probably is slower time wise than the previous mt sac course. 14:10 is right up there with the 14:17 performance at Woodward park.

He was a close 2nd place to Oliver Horton at Desert Twilight. The SW has the fastest kids in the nation once again.

Some pretty detailed analysis here suggesting times on the new course are actually slower
Interesting thanks

I figured it was probably somewhere in that league. He buried the field, won his race by 40 seconds. Insane performance.
This guy's track times don't align with his xc times. What's up.

He is a distance baller to say the least. 2:02, 4:23, and 9:14 show he is fairly distance oriented. Especially since that was after taking 11th at FLN.
The interviewer was saying that even Jackson Spencer wouldn’t have beaten him
something fishy going on over in the high mountains of AZ.
There are many high schoolers who could beat him right now
Doubt it hoe
yeah. Must be improving ?

Like a state with over 7 million people having a fast HS distance runner? He's been good at running his whole life.
I also heard in Jackson Spencer’s interview that he’s trying to go sub-14 there too
Age?
Ew what..?
been running since 6th grade
2:02, 4:23, 9:14
but yeah sure it runs slower than the old course
Don't let the Dutch name fool you. His genes are Ethiopian. Adopted as a young kid.
