I would like to propose a debate. I personally believe that cheating in athletics should be considered as fraud under a legal body. It is manipulating outcomes of events and at the same time is taking away from other clean athletes and taking away their potential revenue. I do not understand why it is treated differently than NBA match-fixing, which does result in prison time. Athletes are using illegal substances to fix outcomes events in their favor. For example, Mo Katir still has his medal, prize money, and only got a few years ban from the sport. In reality, he stole the medal from Garcia Romo in Eugene which results in fiscal loss for Mario. I believe someone like Ruth or Katir should face prison time under fraud charges. I would also like to hear the other side of the argument, but that's how I feel and felt like sharing.
